Google Now’s location updates don’t require GPS. (learn more below)

Google Now updates your location to pinpoint the info you need. So, the location icon stays on. However, updates don’t require GPS and have minimal impact on your battery because:

• Cell towers & Wi-Fi provide location updates.
• If battery gets low, location updates pause.
• The app stays asleep until you move - a lot.

New and improved controls give easy access to location settings. Just tap the location icon in Google Now to manage Location Reporting.

I've used google as my first e-mail account. I now have 4 more and still enjoy google the most. I've tried Bing search and it isn't too bad, but google is more integrated with all my devices and knows enough about me to be helpful.

Ok, but..

It's a very convenient app and all, but it drains your battery, and my iPhone is only 65 days old. I logged out of the app and my battery was normal. If you turn WiFi on to help it give better location and what-not, it's even worse cause the WiFi radio pulls juice too. I like having an app that can handle everything, but I don't know why they said this new update will use less power when it really does. :(
